The Life that We Deserve

We all have dreams and we can all imagine a version of our life that would be amazing.
But oftentimes, we don’t even allow ourselves to think that far. We put limits in our mind and on what we believe is possible. We tell ourselves to not be silly, to not dream that far… out of fear to be disappointed.
We tell ourselves not to be silly, but rather to be realistic. But what is realistic, really? It’s what we allow our reality to look like. In fact, we are all capable of living the life of our dreams. It is within our means to follow our calling and make our dreams come true.
…So why don’t we?
Why don’t we allow ourselves to think big and dream without limits?
Why are we scared of being disappointed?
It’s because deep down, we don’t believe that we deserve it.
We don’t think that we are worthy of receiving everything that we had been hoping for.
So we try to limit ourselves and stick with what we have and be happy with less than we could have, because it represents exactly what we think we should have.
We might envy others who “have it better” and who are living the life we truly want, but we think it’s not for us. We think that we could never get there.
And that’s where we are wrong.
Because we do deserve the life that we are dreaming of. We deserve to be happy. We deserve to have our dreams come true. We are worthy of joy and fulfilment. And we are here to make the most out of the time we were given.
We don’t have to settle for less.
And to change our reality, we need to change our mind. Our mindset.
We need to change what we believe is possible.
And most importantly, we need to change what we believe we are worth.
We need to change what we believe that we deserve.

What if we were worthy of getting everything we ever wanted? What if we were worthy of living the life of our dreams?
What if we were able to be our true selves and follow our passions and be loved and accepted for exactly who we are?
What if we didn’t have to prove anything to the world?
What if we didn’t have to prove our worth, and work harder and harder just to get to where we want to be?
What if we could just be?
Society often makes us believe that in order to get what we want, we have to earn it.
That blood, sweat and tears are the predecessors of success.
That we just need to work hard to be happy.
That nothing comes for free.
What if that wasn’t true?
What if just by being born, we had already earned our place in this world?
What if just by being who we are, we are good enough?
What if we didn’t need to portray an “improved” version of us so that others would like us, love us?
What if we could be our authentic selves and be loved and accepted in our true essence?
The world could be a better place.
We could form true connections.
We could shed light on our deepest fears
And feel included
And include others.
We could have honest conversations
With ourselves and those around us.
We could admit what we don’t know
And we could ask for help.
We could see our weaknesses as strengths
And celebrate vulnerability.
We could meet others where they are
And we wouldn’t be afraid to start something new
Even if we didn’t know how it worked yet.
We would be less afraid of failure.
And we could try new things just for the sake of it
Not to prove anything to anyone.
We could feel at home in our bodies
Because they wouldn’t define our worth.

We would no longer do things
Just to meet others’ expectations
We would not feel the pressure
To be perfect
And “successful”
We would strive for
Being present
And content.
We could be more gentle with
Ourselves and others
We could be more patient
And forgiving
We could understand
The other side
Without needing to prove
That we are right
We wouldn’t play to win
But to learn
And grow
We would not want to be perfect
But just better than yesterday
We would enjoy the moment
Without dwelling in the past
Or worrying about the future
We would cherish this life fully
And accept everything that is
We would no longer fight
Our reality
But instead
Be happy with where we are
And who we are
Right in this moment
We would understand that
Labels don’t define us
And definitions aren’t fixed
We would see the chance to
Reinvent ourselves
Every day.
We would be curious and open
To what the world has to offer
And we wouldn’t shy away from a challenge
But approach it with interest
And genuine curiosity.
We would no longer try
To change others
Or ourselves to “fit in”
Because we would understand
That we are all unique
And we are all on our own journey
And we are just fine
As we are.
We would let go of pressure
And perfection
And worry
And pain.
Because all that matters
Would be this moment
And we would truly be us,
Be ourselves and be here,
We would breathe in and breathe out
And enjoy the view
On our journey
Towards ourselves.
We would know that in
Finding ourselves
We could be healed
And we could let go
Of all external validation
And expectations.
We could forgive ourselves
And others
And we could start each day
With a smile
And an open mind.
It doesn’t matter
Where we are
Or what we do
We can start each day
By changing our mind
And seeing the world
Through a new lens.
We can find joy
In the simplest moments
And we can start believing
That everything we have ever dreamed of
Is possible
And that everything that we need
Is already
Inside of us

And that there is no rush
And that the timing of our life
Is just right
And we could trust
And surrender
To this moment
And all
That it has to offer.
And we would see potential
Where before, we saw nothing.
And we would see opportunities,
Where before, we saw fear.
And we would be brave and daring
Where before, our mind was closed.
And we would feel excitement and adventure
And we would feel that
We are alive.
And we would know that
Each day would be different
Than the one before
And that we could let go of
Our sense
Of security and need for
control
Because everything
Will work out
Just how it is supposed to
And the only constant
Is change
And when we embrace change
We embrace growth
And we embrace flow
And we let ourselves flow
In the direction that we need to
Without force
And without control.
...
So what if
We didn’t need to
Work for it?
What if
We didn’t need to worry?
What if
We were never enemies
Or competitors
What if
We were all just here together
On this planet
Sharing our time on earth
And making the most out of it
By helping and supporting each other
By sharing our dreams
And uplifting others
By believing in ourselves
And our friends
And our lovers
And strangers
By being kind
And open
And generous
And compassionate
And humble.
And what if I told you
That all of this
Was true? What if I told you
That this is not
Just a mind game
And some hypothetical questions
What if I told you
That you can create
The life that you want
And the reality
That you are dreaming of.
And that even if you are scared
To take that first step
You are safe
And you will succeed.
And no matter how many times you try
And you feel like you are failing
You will always find the strength
And the hope
To get back up
And try again
And you will get there.
You are not alone in this.
You are loved and supported.
You are safe.
And you are capable.
It is ok to be scared.
It is ok to open up.
It is ok to ask for help.
It is ok to set boundaries.
It is ok to change our mind.
It is ok to go for what we want.
Actually, more than ok.
It is just what we need.
And we can be proud of ourselves
For every step
That we take
That brings us closer to
Who we really are
And what we came here to do.
